Major (Rtd) Hussein U. Mohammed currently serves as the CEO of Bluebird Aviation Limited, a distinguished company in the air transport sector. With a career spanning over four decades, Major Mohammed has been instrumental in shaping the aviation landscape in Kenya and beyond.

Professional Journey

Major Mohammed’s Civil aviation journey began in 1989 after retiring from Kenyan military in 1988 having served for 12 years. At AirKenya Aviation he began as an Airline Pilot, swiftly moving up to Senior Fleet Pilot. In 1992, he co-founded Bluebird Aviation Limited, a company specializing in passenger air transport, air cargo, and aero medical evacuations. His visionary leadership as Accountable Manager for over two decades, followed by roles as Head of Operations and General Manager, facilitated Bluebird’s growth into a robust enterprise with a fleet of 18 multi engine aircrafts and a team of over 100 aviation professionals based at Wilson Airport.

A highly qualified pilot, Major Mohammed completed an Airline Transport Pilot’s course in Dallas, Texas in 1988, following extensive military flight training in the USA and India. His service with the Kenya Army’s 50th Air Cavalry Regiment as Squadron Commander and Deputy Commander laid the foundation for his aviation expertise and leadership skills.

Education and Training

Major Mohammed’s educational journey began in 1977 as an Officer Cadet at the Armed Forces Training College in Lanet, Kenya. His pursuit of excellence took him to global institutions, including the United States Army Aviation Center, Fort Rucker, Alabama, and the Indian Army School of Artillery, where he earned advanced qualifications in both aviation and artillery command.
